Sagnarigu MUSEC imposes curfew after deadly boundary clash
The Sagnarigu Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) has banned the carrying of arms, ammunition and other offensive weapons in Damankunyili, Nyeshie and adjoining communities following a communal clash that left one person dead and six others injured.
The council announced the directive alongside the imposition of a curfew aimed at restoring calm and preventing further violence in the affected communities.
In a statement signed by the Municipal Chief Executive and Chairman of MUSEC, Abdulai Imoro Gong, the council condemned the violence, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
The daily curfew runs from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., effective immediately and until further notice.
To ensure compliance with the directives, MUSEC said joint police patrols have been intensified across the affected areas to enforce the curfew and maintain security.
The council appealed to residents to cooperate with the security agencies, remain calm and use peaceful means to resolve their differences as efforts continue to restore lasting peace to the municipality.
