Numa communities water systems, a subsidiary of Forward Development will soon be establishing community irrigation systems within its operational areas according to the northern regional director Ahmed Yekini.
Speaking in an exclusive interview he said that once Numa company is into the provision of portable and accessible water systems for communities within the working zone, it has become paramount for them to think about expanding the water systems project to the area of irrigation.
He said that, it is upon the realization that over 80% of the people within the northern regions are into farming. Most of these farmers he noted, depend on rainfed agriculture which also happens for a very short period.
He stated that, going forward Numa company or Forward Development West Africa will start community irrigation systems to increase agricultural production for food security.
