


The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Wa West, Hon. Richard Wullo, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, paid a working visit to Seven Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centres within the Wa West District to motivate candidates and assure them of the Assembly’s support as they sit for this year’s BECE.
The Seven centres visited included the Lassia Tuolu, Dorimon Primary”A”, Dorimon Primary “B”,Tanina Primary “A”, Tanina Primary “B”, Wechiau Primary “A” and Wechiua Primary “B”.
At each centre, Hon. Richard Wullo, encouraged candidates to be resilient and focus whilst undergoing the examination processes. He asked candidates to religiously and genuinely obey all rules and regulations relating to the exams and avoid every form of examination malpractices.
The DCE, also made a donation of some bags of rice and gallons of cooking oil at each centre to help complement the feeding of candidates as they write the examination.
Interaction with the media, the Wa West District Director of Education, Mr. Amatus D. Tug-uu, disclosed that a total of 1,539 candidates made up of 733 boys and 806 girls were sitting for the BECE within the Wa West District for the year 2025. He challenged the candidates to get excellent grades to enable them receive the president’s award. He pledged a scholarship package for students who will come out with flying colours.
Mr. Amatus was highly grateful to the Wa West legislator, Hon,Peter Lanchene Toobu, for the yearly Member of Parliament’s sponsored Mock which he believes goes a long way to prepare the candidates at their school levels for the ultimate BECE. He futher added that the Wa West Legislator, has provided some bags of rice and gallons of cooking oil to sustain the candidates during the BECE period.
Similarly at Tanina Primary “A and “B”, the Chief of Nassah Community, a suburb of the Wa West District, Naa Adama Tiefere IV, donated Fifty (50) bags of sachets water in an effort boost the morale of the candidates at both centres. He was optimistic that the candidates will get good aggregates and project the name of the District.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Directorate, the Wa West District Director of Education, Mr. Amatus D. Tug-uu was grateful to the chief for the gesture. He encouraged other Chiefs particularly in Communities where centres are to emulate same gesture.
This year’s candidates are expected write two papers daily, with subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Science, Ghanaian Language, Social Studies, Religious and Moral Education, Creative Arts and Design, and Career Technology.
This year’s batch of BECE candidates is the first expected to benefit from the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy under the new administration and watch of his Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
Nationwide, a total of 603,328 candidates are participating in theBasic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) 2025.
