The Wa West District Director of Education has called on the government and philanthropist to support the school under his jurisdiction with learning materials and school uniforms
According to Mr. Amatus Tugu, it is a fact that, students in the district really need school uniforms and learning to enable them stay on campus for effect learning.
The Wa West District Education Director speaking to Radio Progress in Ponyentanga during a short ceremony organised by the Wa District School Church of Pentecost Outrage Ministry expressed worries on how poverty level in the District affect the education of children in many communities.
He also lamented bitterly on how majority of parents in the District often refuse to cater for their wards education; adding that, they do it because they don’t know the importance of education.
Mr. Amatus Tugu revealed that, education is the success of every human being especially among the younger generation and therefore, there is the need for parents to take good care of their wards education.
He also urged parents to invest resources in getting their wards educated instead of wasting it on unnecessary activities like drinking and funeral rites.
Meanwhile, Rev. Frank Mensah, the National Coordinator of the School Outrage Ministry at the Church of Pentecost also interacting with Radio Progress on the rationale about the school uniforms donated by the church to students in the area said the primary goal of the Ministry is evangelize and to support students to grow well in accordance to the cultural values.
He noted that, the uniforms donated to the beneficiaries will go a long way improve their learning abilities since they needed them to enable them have access to their classrooms.
In all 300 students from 13 communities under the Wa West District received their share of the uniforms.
Meanwhile, the School Outreach Ministry of Poyentanga District of The Church of Pentecost in Wa Area has renewed and registered 980 students and parents in the District from 15 basic Schools in 11 communities onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
According to the District Minister, Overseer Bright Alanyo, the 2-day programme was organised with the intent to help people with financial constraints have access to healthcare
It was carried out by the staff of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) from the Wa Municipality who brought their biometric machines to the Church of Pentecost, Poyentanga Central.
“The purpose of this exercise is to help enroll all students and parents who have financial difficulties in registering for the NHIS card or renewing their expired NHIS cards for accessing health care”, the District Minister claimed.
Addressing students and parents at the seen , Overseer Bright Alanyo, expressed his profound appreciation to the Wa Area Head, Pastor B.A .M Abogorago, for his support and prayers when the vision was shared with him.
He approved it without delay to be implemented immediately . The District minister further asserted that, The church was not only interested in winning souls for Christ but was equally concerned about the health of the students, parents and their general wellbeing.
