River of Risk: Gboritee Community’s Plea for Safe Education Access.

The Residents and Students of Gboritee,a farming community, located under the Kandeu Electoral area in the Wa West District, faces a heart-wrenching challenge that threatened the future of their Children’s education.
To access formal education, students and parents must brave the treacherous waters of a large river, risking lives and limbs daily.

For too long, the community has appealed to authorities to provide a safe and reliable crossing solution to ensuring that, their children can receive education without jeopardizing their lives. Yet, their cries for help remain unanswered.

As the river swells during rainy seasons, anxiety grips the community. Parents fear for their children’s safety, while students worry about missing school or arriving late, exhausted from the perilous crossing. Despite these obstacles, Gboritee’s residents remain steadfast in their pursuit of knowledge, believing education holds the key to a brighter future.

In a remarkable display of resilience, the community established a kindergarten in 2019, which has grown to Basic 6 with over 500 pupils, just three teachers, and without adequate classroom infrastructure or school feeding programs.
