The Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Stephen Yakubu has on Monday, 19th August, 2024, received 100 equipment under the government District Road Improvement Program (DRIP) to improve the Region’s Road sector challenges.
The equipment comprising of 11 tipper trucks, 11 backhoes, 11 water tankers, 11 rollers, 11 moto graders, wheel loaders, low bed trucks, 22 concrete mixtures and many more of such equipment; according to the Upper West Regional Minister will be distrusted to all the 11 Assemblies in the Region to help reduce road challenges in their various Assemblies.
Hon. Stephen Yakubu speaking a short handing over ceremony also noted that, drivers and operators of the equipment will be taken through some operational training to enable them discharge their mandated duties accurately when on field.
He revealed that, government will be releasing some logistical funding support to the beneficiary Assemblies for smooth running of the machines.
The Upper West Regional Minister disclosed that, the Region is privileged to be benefitting from the EU roads project because the project has helped in the development of region.
He also mentioned the, there would have been changes in the road sector if all governments were prioritizing roads.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kuudigr Venetius, the Upper West regional Coordinator at Zoomlion for public projects handing over the equipment to the Upper West Regional Minister hinted that, the initiative is a partnership between the Government of Ghana and J.A Plant Pool which is subsidiary of J.A. group of companies.
According to him, J.A Plant Pool will be training people who are to operate the machines and at the same time be in charge of maintenance and supply of the machine spare parts.
