Upper West Region: Two killed in robbery attack in Wallembelle

Two people have been killed in a robbery attack at Wallembelle, located in the Sissala East municipality of the Upper West region, on Saturday, August 17.

The tragic incident unfolded around 7:00 pm when four armed men targeted and robbed a mobile money vendor in the village.

According to reports, the robbers arrived on two motorbikes and stormed the mobile money shop, firing sporadically as they ransacked the premises and made off with an undisclosed sum of money.

A survivor of the attack, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted the terrifying ordeal. After the robbers had looted the shop, two of them struggled to start their motorbike, delaying their escape.

Noticing this, Tordia Munkailu, one of the deceased, attempted to raise the alarm and pursued the robbers.

Sensing the imminent threat, the robbers opened fire, fatally shooting Munkailu and another victim, Fuseini Benorwuo. The attackers then fled the scene, abandoning the malfunctioning motorbike. This violent incident has left the Wallembelle community in a state of fear and shock.
