Daribaateng Residents set to boycott 2024 election over the absence of a polling station

The chief and people of Daribaateng, a predominate farming community under the Poyentanga electoral area, in the Wa west district of the upper west region, are threatening not to participate in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections on 7th December, 2024, if the authorities, including the district assembly and the electoral commission of Ghana fail to create a voting center in their community to enable them exercise their democratic rights and responsibilities with ease

Some residents claimed that, the aged, pregnant women, the disable and the voting class in their community have to walk several Kilometres and cross rivers to Kon-Golo-mah, to be able to cast their votes during any major elections, yet the community has not received any monumental development since 19992.

According them, the community has a large voting population that deserve a polling station

Mr. Tunye Pual and other youth of the community told Radio Progress news during a community visit that, the residents will advise themselves if the political actors don’t take immediate steps to crate a voting center before December 7.
