CID and NACOC destroy sacks of marijuana and cocaine

Armed officers of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service under the supervision of the Accra Circuit Court and the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), have burnt two hundred and forty-two sacks of marijuana, sixteen kilograms of cocaine, and buckets of heroin as part of an effort to clamp down on the production, sale and usage of narcotic substances in Ghana.

The move is also part of a broader strategy by law enforcers to break down the criminal network involved in the trade of illicit drugs in the country.

Joy News’ Latif Iddrisu, who witnessed the destruction at Osu Beach in Accra, reported that the burning of the narcotic substances follows an order by the Accra Circuit Court.

The substances were seized on the high seas.

Apart from the 242 sacks of compressed marijuana, there were also buckets, boxes, and bottles of cocaine.
