WA MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE DONATES TO BAHASS FOUNDATION TO ACCOMMODATE MENTALLY ILL PEOPLE

The Wa Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Tahiru Issahaku Moomin, has on Wednesday 31st July,2024 presented a cheque of GHC25,000.00 to support Bahass to acquire a temporal accommodation for the mentally retarded persons within the wa municipality.

Bahasa Foundation, an NGO in the Wa municipality that is into supporting and caring for the mentally ill, made a call on the Honourable MCE a couple of weeks ago to come to their aid by way of supporting them to rent accommodation space for the mentally ill as a short-term measure to protect them from being harmed considering the spate of serial killings within the municipality recently.

It is against this backdrop that the Municipal Chief Executive finds it expedient to extend this kind of support to the Bahass Foundation.

The donation will enable the foundation to house these vulnerable ones for 2 years as there is a long-term plan to construct a mentally ill home for them.

Speaking in an interview with progress news, the executive director of the Bahass Foundation Mr. ELIASU BABA [ Chairman Baba] disclosed that, the mentally displaced members of our society, are hated, thereby rendering them homeless and exposed to all sorts of dangers out there. It is therefore worthy to support anybody or group of people who so want to help these vulnerable populations in our society.

He expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries and assured the MCE that the money would be used for its intended purpose.

Mr. ELIASU BABA [ Chairman Baba] has therefore appealed to benevolent organizations and individuals to support the Foundation in the areas of providing food, paying lights bill and health care provision for the now housed mentally challenge persons.
