
A renowned surgeon aged 79, Dr. Edward Gyader has passed away. He died in the early hours of Wednesday July 10, 2024, while receiving treatment at the Upper West regional hospital.
His son, George Gyader who confirmed the death, said he complained of pains on his right hand and was sent for treatment at the facility, but his condition worsened, leading to his demise around 5:00 am Wednesday morning.

“We are all shocked. He was admitted when we sent him to be treated of pains on his right hand. Unfortunately, his condition got worse. The doctors and nurses worked hard but we lost him,” he said.
The celebrated surgeon is known for his over two decades dedicated service to the Upper West region and the country at large.
He worked at the Jirapa Municipal Hospital for many years before he was transferred to the Upper West Regional Hospital as the medical director.
The Italian trained medical doctor served as the Dean of the Medical School at the University of Development Studies (UDS) before being appointed as the member of the council of state.
Dr Gyader was knighted by the pope in honour of dedicated services to God and country.

His death has sent shivers down the spines of many in the Upper West region with many sharing remarkable memories of his exceptional prowess in surgery especially at a time when many of his pears refused postings to the region.
