Bad road network truncates quality teaching – Jenbob basic school teachers decry

Some teachers at the Jenbob Roman Catholic Primary and Junior High schools under the Ga North Circuit in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region have been sharing their challenges with radio progress news as they struggle every day in order to impact knowledge in their pupil’s due to the bad state of the roads leading to the school.   

According to them, the poor road network in the area is hindering their ability to effectively teach and deliver quality education to the students. They explained that the bad roads make it difficult for them to travel to and from the school, causing delays and sometimes preventing them from even reaching the school at all.

The teachers expressed their frustration, stating that the rough and muddy roads often damage their motorcycle and also makes the journey to the school uncomfortable and unsafe. He also explained that the poor road conditions make it challenging for parents and students to access the school, leading to low attendance rates and hindering the overall experience.

Another teacher, highlighted the impact of the bad road network on the delivery of teaching materials and resources to the school, which in turn affects the quality of education that can be provided to the students.

They made this known on Tuesday 2nd July, 2024 during the handing over of a fully furnished five-bedroom teachers’ bungalow to the school by the DCE and Wa West GES director.

The teachers have therefore called on the government and relevant authorities to prioritize the improvement of the road network in the area to ensure that quality teaching and learning activities can take place without hindrance.

Meanwhile, the DCE, Hon Vida Diorotey, who is a native of Jenbob told progress news on 1st July, 2024 that the District Assembly is set to initiate transformative project aimed at revamping the road. She Disclosed that tenders will be opened on Friday 5th July for construction firms to bid on the pivotal Lassia- Buil- Jenbob – Ollotoo -Bichuutoo- Poyentanga stretch of the road.
