Re.Fr. Paul Kala hand over hand pump borehole to Kaluri K.G and Primary school in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Celek and Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Kerhin

Rev.Fr Paul Kala, a true son from Kaluri and founder of Missionary Society of St. Theresa of the little flower in Wa, has commissioned and handed over a borehole with hand pumps to Kaluri K.G and Primary school.

The water supply project according to the Reverend Father is in line with the Sustainable Development Goal 6 aimed at providing potable water water for all.

Rev.Fr. Paul sharing his personal motivation for the initiative in the community said, he has seeing children in the community school have walking on hourly basis to the nearest source of potable water close to the school due to inadequate water supply in the school.

He also revealed that, after witnessing students struggling in search of water in the school, he started lobbing for funding support from his friends whilst a call was placed on Mrs. Edward Celek and Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Kerhin to support him drill a borehole for the school.

He also added that, he later got funding support from Mr. and Mrs. Celek and as well as Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Kerhin who are all based America after they were enlightened on the situation at hand in his hometown.

According to him, he has been able to support some communities in the Region with clean drinking water to improve their ways living and to prevent them from water born diseases like cholera and guinea worm.

“It is not only the people of Kaluri who have benefited from water projects constructed by me Rev.Fr. Paul Kala; but the people of Samatigu, Eremon and some communities in the Region have also benefited from my initiatives”. He mentioned.

He also noted that, it is his hope and prayer to always get from support from donor partners to enable him undertake powerful initiatives that will improve the living standards of people in deprive communities.

Some parents’ behalf of their wards also speaking to Radio Progress expressed excitement with supports given to their wards by the scripture leader.

“Rev. Fr Paul Kala has not only supported the school with boreholes, he also supported students in the school with schools uniforms at the time parents were not expecting it”.

Mr. Yussif Adamu, a parent said, the borehole drilled for their wards in the school will go along way improves teaching and learning in the school since their wards will no more be moving around during classes’ hours in search of to quench their thirst.

Madam Adams Nadiatu, Headmistress of Kaluri D/A K.G and Primary school, the beneficiary school in the community also interacting with Radio Progress news said, there will improvement in learning on campus because teaching and learning in the school used to be destructive at all times as a result of insufficient water supply on campus.

She also explained that, teachers used to force students on Fridays to fill the school poly-tank with water; carrying basins on their heads before going home for weekends.

“We really were in need of additional boreholes on campus because the old borehole which was drilled by Rev Fr Paul couldn’t withstand the water situation in the school; we used to forced students on Fridays to fill the school poly-tank with water before departing for weekends”. she noted.

Members of the community and the school authority also presented a citation to the scripture leader for his efforts and contribution towards the development of the community.

Meanwhile, the impact of the borehole is evident as residents, teachers and students in the community expressed their gratitude for the timely intervention by the scripture leader and a son of the soil.
