Kanlahi Residents Threaten to Abstain from the 2024 Election
The residents of Kanlahi, a farming community in the Wa East district, have threatened to boycott the upcoming election if their demands for social amenities are not met.
According to them, Life in Kanlahi has been marred by the absence of basic necessities, including a functional road network, electricity supply, and access to clean water
The isolated agricultural community, which heavily relies on farming as its primary source of livelihood, has been left behind in the wake of regional advancements. Despite their contributions to the nation’s food supply, the hardworking people of Kanlahi continue to face immense hardships due to the lack of attention from the authorities.
They said roads, which represent a lifeline for transportation and economic activities, are in an abysmal state, causing severe inconvenience to the residents. The poor road network has led to difficulties in transporting goods to markets, limiting economic opportunities and stifling the potential for growth and prosperity.
